Iran (IMNA) – The agreement, which consists of 47 clauses, aims to deepen cooperation across various sectors, including trade, military, and nuclear energy.
Following the signing, President Putin emphasized that the strategic partnership deal adds “momentum” to Iran-Russia ties, setting ambitious goals in multiple fields and underscoring the importance of strengthening friendly relations. Putin also discussed the situation in Syria with Pezeshkian and expressed support for the recently announced Gaza ceasefire.
President Pezeshkian welcomed the agreement as a new chapter in bilateral ties with Russia. He expressed Tehran’s support for peace negotiations between Russia and Ukraine, stating that Iran is opposed to unilateralism. Additionally, Pezeshkian highlighted agreements on building new trade and transport routes with Moscow, criticizing Western double standards on human rights.
This strategic partnership is part of Iran’s broader pivot towards Eastern alliances, particularly with Russia and China, as it seeks to counter Western sanctions and isolation. The agreement does not include a mutual defense clause, reflecting Iran’s commitment to maintaining national sovereignty and independence.
