Iran(IIMNA) – Raeisi’s trip, at the invitation of Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune, aligns with his administration’s goal of strengthening ties with regional and international organizations, particularly Muslim and “like-minded” countries.
Iran has been seeking to enhance relations with North African nations, including Sudan, with whom it has had strained ties in the past, and Egypt, which has had no diplomatic relations with Iran since the 1979 Iranian Revolution.
On the first day of his trip, President Raeisi will address the 7th Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF) Summit of Heads of State and Government. He will also hold meetings with other participating leaders and officials.
On the second day, Raeisi is scheduled to meet with President Tebboune, and the two sides are expected to sign several agreements.
