Iran (IMNA) – He made these remarks to reporters before departing for Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, where he arrived on Thursday to participate in the “International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation in Dushanbe 2025.”

Highlighting the close cultural and linguistic ties between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Tajikistan, Aref described Tajikistan as a friendly and co-lingual country. During his visit, he intends to explore new areas of cooperation, particularly in the fields of economy, trade, science and technology, and tourism.

“We hope to achieve good achievements and we will review the understandings and agreements signed between the two countries and work to resolve the problems with these agreements,” Aref stressed.

At the conference, Aref will present the Iranian government’s perspectives on glacier preservation to the international participants.

The International Conference on Glaciers’ Preservation, hosted by the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan, will take place in Dushanbe from May 29 to June 1, 2025. This event follows the United Nations resolution declaring 2025 as the International Year of Glaciers’ Preservation and establishing March 21 as the World Day for Glaciers starting in 2025. The resolution welcomed Tajikistan’s role in convening this important conference dedicated to glacier preservation.
