Iran (IMNA) – These newly identified villages will join the 14 officially designated tourism-target villages, offering travelers a wider range of village tourism and eco-tourism experiences.
Fahimeh Roshan, Deputy Director of Tourism for the provincial department, explained that the 14 original villages—including Varmaghan, Charmaleh, Hajij, Piran, Harsin, Sorkheh, Golin, and Harir—were selected nearly 20 years ago as part of a national tourism development strategy. Since then, these communities have seen the establishment of essential infrastructure and tourism facilities.
“In recent years, there has been growing interest in rural and nature tourism,” Roshan told ISNA. “Kermanshah’s unique geography and climate make it home to many villages with untapped tourism potential, and we are now taking steps to introduce them to both domestic and international visitors.”
Roshan emphasized the importance of visitors sharing their experiences, stating, “Each tourist who visits and shares their experience becomes an informal ambassador for the destination. We want to create lasting impressions that encourage word-of-mouth promotion.”
She also highlighted the success of several villages in the scenic Uramanat region, which have become popular tourist spots in recent years. “Local communities have seen the economic benefits of tourism firsthand,” Roshan added, “and this has encouraged them to engage more actively in welcoming tourists.”
Kermanshah, located in western Iran, is renowned for its deep historical and cultural significance. Nestled in the Zagros Mountains, it has been a vital center of civilization since ancient times.
The province is home to extraordinary archaeological sites, including the monumental rock reliefs of Taq-e Bostan and the ancient inscriptions at Bisotun, both UNESCO World Heritage sites.
In addition to its rich history, Kermanshah offers stunning natural attractions such as the tranquil Sarab-e Niloofar spring, the dramatic Quri Qal’eh water cave, and the scenic Parishan waterfall.
With its unique combination of historical landmarks and natural beauty, Kermanshah provides a diverse and captivating experience that continues to draw visitors and showcase Iran’s rich heritage.
