Iran (IMNA) – The two leaders met during an international forum attended by Central Asian leaders, marking their first official meeting. According to Ria Novosti, Putin noted that Moscow and Tehran often share similar perspectives on international events, highlighting their cooperative efforts on the global stage.

Putin extended an invitation for Pezeshkian to make an official visit to Russia, which the Iranian president gratefully accepted. Pezeshkian described the relationship with Russia as “sincere and strategic,” stating that economic and cultural ties are strengthening over time. He emphasized the need to accelerate cooperation in various sectors, aligning with the interests of both countries’ top leaders.

Pezeshkian expressed optimism about finalizing a strategic partnership document during the upcoming BRICS summit in Russia, underscoring the importance of bilateral cooperation. He remarked on the mutual benefits that Iran and Russia can offer each other, noting that their stances in the world align more closely than with other states.

During the discussions, Pezeshkian addressed the dire situation in Palestine and Lebanon, condemning the Israeli regime’s actions and asserting that it does not respect international legal frameworks. He criticized European and American countries for their roles in exacerbating tensions in the region.

The meeting comes amid increasing hostilities in the Middle East, particularly concerning Israel’s military operations against Iran-aligned groups in Lebanon. The strengthening ties between Iran and Russia are seen as significant in light of these developments.
