Iran (IMNA) – Loud explosions were reported in the Iranian capital, shortly before the Israeli regime confirmed it had conducted an operation against Iran. The attacks resulted in casualties among civilians—including women and children—as well as the martyrdom of several senior Iranian military commanders. Major General Mohammad Bagheri, Chief of Staff of Iran’s Armed Forces, and IRGC Chief Major General Hossein Salami were both martyred in the Israeli strikes.
In response, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) issued a statement expressing condolences for the loss of Major General Salami, praising his dedication to the Islamic Revolution. The IRGC emphasized its readiness, along with other branches of the armed forces, to deliver a decisive and harsh response to Zionist aggression. The statement assured that necessary precautions and planning for retaliation were already in place, promising that details of the counteraction would be shared with the Iranian nation.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry has declared that Iran has the legal and legitimate right to respond to Israeli aggression, citing Article 51 of the United Nations Charter, which affirms the right of self-defense in the face of armed attack.
Reacting to the Israeli aggression, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a message.

Great nation of Iran!
At dawn today, the Zionist regime committed a heinous crime on our beloved soil, revealing its evil nature more than ever by targeting residential areas with its wicked and bloodstained hands. The regime must await a severe punishment.
By God’s will, the powerful hand of the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic will not let it [Israel] go unpunished.
In the enemy’s attacks, several commanders and scientists were martyred. Their successors and colleagues will immediately carry on their duties, God willing.
With this crime, the Zionist regime has prepared a bitter and painful fate for itself — and it will undoubtedly receive it.
