Iran (IMNA) – In a statement released on Wednesday, the Security Council expressed its deepest sympathy and condolences to the families of the victims, as well as to the people and government of Iran.
The members reaffirmed that terrorism in all its forms constitutes one of the most serious threats to international peace and security. They emphasized the need to hold accountable the perpetrators, organizers, financiers, and sponsors of such reprehensible acts of terrorism.
The Council urged all states to actively cooperate with the Government of Iran, in accordance with their obligations under international law and relevant Security Council resolutions. They reiterated that any acts of terrorism are criminal and unjustifiable, regardless of their motivation or the identity of those committing them.
On October 26, ten Iranian border guards were martyred when gunmen launched a surprise attack on police vehicles in Taftan County. Following the attack, Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Quds Base announced the detention of four individuals linked to the incident, for which the Jaish Ul-Adl terrorist group claimed responsibility.
