Iran, Georgia Strengthen Cultural Ties

Iran (IMNA) – The discussions took place on September 27, coinciding with the World Tourism Day summit.Salehi-Amiri, who arrived in Georgia on Thursday, received a warm welcome from Georgian officials and Iran’s ambassador to Georgia, Mehr reported. In his talks with Georgian Minister of Culture Ioseb Baghaturia, he expressed Iran’s eagerness to collaborate on restoring cultural objects and conducting archaeological research while sharing expertise in organizing exhibitions.

Highlighting the significance of fostering closer ties with countries in the Caucasus region, Salehi-Amiri stated that this is a key priority for Iran’s Ministry of Cultural Heritage. He also stressed the value of exchanging knowledge and experiences to bolster cultural and historical preservation efforts.

Baghaturia acknowledged Iran’s rich cultural contributions and expressed Georgia’s readiness to formalize cooperation through a memorandum of understanding. He underscored the importance of expanding joint activities in archaeology and restoration for both nations.

Salehi-Amiri’s visit aligned with the World Tourism Day events held on September 26-27, where tourism ministers and senior officials from various countries engaged in discussions and ceremonies. In addition to attending the summit, Salehi-Amiri is set to hold bilateral meetings with high-ranking Georgian officials and counterparts from other participating nations.
