Iran, Turkmenistan Pledge to Boost Customs Cooperation, Trade Volume

Iran (IMNA) – Expressing contentment over the growth in trade volume between Iran and Turkmenistan, Rezvanifar highlighted that the two nations traded 1.4 million tons of products worth $450 million in the last year (March 21, 2023, to March 20, 2024). Emphasizing the need for joint bilateral and cross-border meetings to further boost trade, he proposed setting up collaborative gatherings.

Khudaikulyev echoed the sentiments, acknowledging the positive trend in trade exchanges between Iran and Turkmenistan in recent years. He underlined the importance of sharing experiences and fostering educational-training cooperation between their respective customs authorities, a proposal welcomed by Iran’s customs chief.

Furthermore, Khudaikulyev reiterated Turkmenistan’s readiness to provide customs services at the Sarakhs border crossing 24/7, highlighting the significant potential existing at the borders of both countries.

As a result of their discussions, Iran and Turkmenistan agreed to convene expert-level meetings within the next month to further solidify their customs cooperation and bolster trade relations.
